Rats on the cob

cute picture, I wanted to share. These are the pet quality rats I'm keeping from my "OOPS-4-litters-at-once-49-babies-total recent litter. I think I'm going to get Alax fixed after this. (I got spoiled on Jake who only bred a few times a year and made cuter babies) Anyways... BABIES! They're... about 7 weeks old, 6-7 depending on the individual. And I gave them a left over corn cob and they LOVED it!

on the left we have Dottie (because she has a little white star on her forehead), then Little Lightning (for the pale, narrow blaze down her face) and then a pair of Splootchy Noses who ended up leaving the pet quality cage because they didn't like to be handled (*sad*)
In the middle is the main reason I'm uploading this- I'll get back to her)
Then there's Stripeyhead (little brown hood with a stripe between his ears) and Token (Anh's token Dumbo- she always has ONE) and Lightning (who has a proper lightning streak blaze, just like her mommy Dyanna)

Ok, back to the middle, this little girl was originally called Houdinni or Mama's Girl for her habit of dashing out of the cage every chance she got to join the adults in the big cage (she's fully weaned, she doesn't NEED them). She's a neat solid fawn, but has a grey undercoat. Not as dark as her brothers from a previous litter, but pretty all the same. I started thinking I might keep her. And then I started to notice that her eyes were different colors. At first, I thought it was just the light, sometimes ruby eyes are darker or lighter in different lights. But then got to looking at her and pointed out that her eyes are, in fact, two different shades. She has one dark red and one bright ruby eye! So, I started calling her Odd Eyed Girl. And couldn't think of where that sounded familiar from... and finally I remembered. One of my first online friends had OddEyedGrl as a screen name! And her name is Rae. Soooo... with 's permission, Houdinni is now Rae. It makes me happy.

I'm not sure who the clown in the corner is, but I just couldn't cut him out.
